Seven Granbury Lady Pirate basketball players received District 5-5A honors following the 2020-21 season, which saw the Granbury High School girls reach the playoffs for the first time in six years.
Finishing second in district play after a seeding tournament, the Lady Pirates beat Colleyville Heritage 54-38 in the bi-district round on February 12 at Arlington Martin High School. The girls fell to Mansfield Legacy in area 64-34 on February 20 at the Arlington ISD Athletic Center.
Leading the GHS contingent were seniors Gentry Garner and Brooklynne Sandel on the first team.
Second-team choices were senior Ashlyn Bednarz, junior Nina Parker, and sophomore Ella Hamlin. On the honorable mention list were senior Courtney Smith and junior Ashley Torres.
In addition to Granbury, District 5-5A is composed of Aledo, Azle, Brewer, Wichita Falls, and Wichita Falls Rider.
