Students in Granbury schools marked Constitution Day and Celebrate Freedom Week to honor the nation’s governing document during activities on September 17, 2021.
Granbury students are having special classroom lessons and activities to learn about government principles, the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, as well as other important parts of American democracy.
The purpose of Celebrate Freedom Week is to educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country and the values on which this country was founded. The annual observance honors the work of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention during the summer of 1787 in Philadelphia.
At Acton Middle School, history students engaged in a digital escape room to learn about constitutional ideals and the founding fathers. Each student was also presented with a booklet that includes the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence provided by the Law-Related Education Department of the State Bar of Texas.
At STEAM Academy at Mambrino, first graders collaborated to design their own class constitution.
