GISD SCHOOL TRUSTEES HOLD MONTHLY BOARD MEETING

Granbury ISD Board of Trustees held its budget workshop and regular monthly meeting on July 18, 2022. 

During the budget workshop, Emmett Whitefield presented a balanced budget. 

Dr. Glenn shared preliminary assessment data showing significant growth for students across all campuses. 

One major highlight shown was Baccus Elementary's impressive improvement, growing from a rating of 'F' in 2020-21 to a rating of 'B' in 2021-22. 

Official campus data and school report cards will be published by TEA in August.

Trustees accepted a total of $28,733.14 in donations from the community.

  • GHS Volleyball Booster Club for student travel, $5,368.00
  • Emma Roberson PTO to campus activity fund, $3,615.14
  • Adrian Hinojosa to FFA campus activity account to fund smoker projects,  $1,000.00
  • Gemini Homes to GHS Robotics student activity,$1,500.00
  • Hyde Law Firm to GHS Robotics student activity, $1,200.00
  • NRA to GHS MJROTC student activity, $600.00
  • Civilian Marksmanship Program to GHS MJROTC student activity, $5,450.00

Trustees discussed and took action on agenda items.

  • Approved election contracts with Hood, Johnson, Somevell, and Parker counties
  • Approved MOU with StoneWater Church regarding volunteer partnership
  • Approved new meal prices for the 2022-23 school year:
    • no increase in the price of student breakfast & lunch meal prices
    • no increase in the price of adult breakfast
    • increase in the price of adult lunch from $3.90 to $4.25 
  • Approved the published proposed tax rate of $1.0496

Trustees heard reports from district administrators.

  • Assistant Superindent Jimmy Dawson reported on a flexible school calendar and the impact of possibly adding instructional minutes to the school day, addressing specific challenges of the substitute fill rate while prioritizing instructional time and academic achievement.
  • Chief Financial Officer Emmett Whitefield reviewed financial statements and cash flow reports.  Whitefield also gave a report regarding custodial services.
  • Child Nutrition Director Amy Whiteley gave the annual report on Child Nutrition report.
  • Federal Programs Coordinator Hailey Veron shared the six-month review of ESSER funds describing the district's expenditures and results.

Trustees next convene on Monday, August 22, 2022 with an Executive Session at 5 PM followed by a Regular Session at 6 PM.  Meetings are held in the GISD Board Room in the Administration Building at 217 N. Jones Street.
