Hood County YMCA provides a positive environment and experience for Granbury ISD students.
One example of their partnership is the special education programming with STEAM Academy at Mambrino students. Hood County YMCA and Granbury ISD special education department partner to host field trips nearly every week for different life skills classrooms. The excursions will focus on healthy lifestyles, recreational fitness, and socialization through community-based learning. Each six weeks will target a different sport or recreational activity, accompanied by a cardiovascular emphasis on tracking steps to show individual growth.
Another example of their community partnership is the positive after-school environment offered to middle school students. Whether they choose to complete homework, workout with friends, or engage in other healthy recreational activities, middle school students have a safe and caring after-school environment at the Hood County YMCA.
Pictured above are some of the members of the community who serve behind the scenes to make this partnership possible.
