The students and staff at Brawner Elementary School bid farewell to Officer Steven Fowler as he departs for deployment with the United States Navy.
The beloved school resource officer has served Granbury ISD staff and students since 2020. As a Granbury High School graduate, Fowler loves serving the staff and students of his hometown. He came to Granbury ISD to "make a difference in the community and in people's lives."
Over the last few weeks, the Brawner family has been preparing for their farewell by signing a flag for him to take with him to Africa. According to Fowler, there are many things he will miss during his deployment, but it's the kids he'll miss the most.
"Today was a day filled with lots of emotions. We miss him already," said principal Jincy Ross.
The staff held a reception in his honor and ended the day lining the hallways for a final farewell.
Officer Fowler plans to return to Brawner Elementary next school year upon completion of his deployment.
He is sure to find the staff and students patiently awaiting his safe return.
