Granbury High School held commencement exercises for the Class of 2014 on May 29, 2014, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Principal Jeremy Ross presented the graduates to the Board of Trustees. Diplomas were presented by school board members: president Mark Jackson, vice president Micky Shearon, Dr. Barbara Herrington, Joe Jones, B.J. Wallace, and Don Walton. Each senior was congratulated by Ross and superintendent Dr. James Largent.
As the top two students in the graduating class, valedictorian Rachael Rodgers and salutatorian Riley Summer each delivered an address. Senior class president Marley Weeks also spoke on behalf of the seniors.
The remaining students in the top ten of the class were recognized by Ross: Ryan Garland, Lily Tunnell, Guy Wright, Justin Kochis, Thomas Tigner, Morgan Northcutt, Chandler Chiappe, Courtney Howze.
Other class officers and student council officers participated in the program and were part of the stage party. The others were: Sydney Carpenter, student council president; Kaitlyn Crow, student council senior spirit coordinator; Mason Meek, senior class vice president; Sydney Teeter, student council parliamentarian; Emmelee Whitfield, student council vice president. Also participating was Fernando Aguado from the Spanish National Honor Society.
Choir council president Joel Reid sang the National Anthem, and all senior choir members performed the traditional “Bless Us This Day.” The GHS Pirate Band provided music for the processional and recessional as well as the School Song and Fight Song – led by senior drum majors Ashleen Atchue and Chase Rogers. The school’s Marine Corps JROTC color guard presented the United States and Texas flags.
