Six members of the Granbury High School choir were recently named Texas Music Scholars by a state organization for meritorious performance in the areas of scholarship, musicianship, and citizenship.
Students honored with the designation by theTexas Music Educators Association were Baylee Davis, Brynn Deger, Kiersten Mathis, Kendon Parker, Deanna Rupp, and Zach Zagrocki.
Parker and Rupp just completed their junior year, while Davis, Mathis, and Zagrocki were sophomores. Deger was a freshman at Crossland Ninth Grade Center.
To be selected, students must be a viable member of a school musical organization for the entire school year; maintain an overall A average along with academic eligibility; participate in all scheduled events of the music organization; attend two director-approved concert events of high school, collegiate, or professional level during the school year; perform a UIL-prescribed Class I solo for a competition or public performance; and consistently exhibit behavior which brings honor to the musical organization, school, and community.
The students were nominated for the honor by GHS choir directors Joy Hope and Greg Doss.
