Granbury High School held
commencement exercises for the Class of 2016 on May 27, 2016, at the Fort Worth
Principal Jeremy Ross
presented the graduates to the Board of Trustees. Diplomas were presented by
school board members: president Micky Shearon, vice president Nancy Alana, secretary
Dr. Barbara Herrington, Mark Jackson, Chris Tackett, Barbara Townsend, and B.J.
Wallace. Each senior was congratulated by Ross and superintendent Dr. James
As the top two students in
the graduating class, valedictorian Sarah Schloeman and salutatorian Kaylee
Keating each delivered an address. Senior class president Caleb Carnes also
spoke on behalf of the seniors.
The remaining students in the
top ten of the class were recognized by Ross: Craig
Knisley, Joshua Smith, Kiersten Mathis, Clay Walters, Lauren Wood, Makenna
Martin, Lillian Thornton, and Hannah Robinson.
Other class officers and
student council officers participated in the program and were part of the stage
party. The others were: Haley Grissom,
student council president; Juliette Hoverson, student council vice president; Sierra
Browning, student council secretary; Stephanie Garcia, student council
treasurer; Elijah Cordero Valverde, student council senior spirit coordinator; Rebecka
Joy, senior class vice president; Anna Beckley, senior class treasurer. Also participating was Jackie Villafranco
from the Spanish National Honor Society.
A quartet of Baylee Davis,
Kiersten Mathis, X Sokol, and Zach Zagrocki sang the National Anthem, and all
senior choir members performed “My Land.”
The GHS Pirate Band provided music for the processional and recessional
as well as the School Song and Fight Song. The school’s Marine Corps JROTC
color guard presented the United States and Texas flags.
