Matthew Hickey makes 2 runs hold up for the Pirates in 2-1 win over Grapevine

 

The Pirates didn't provide Matthew Hickey with much support, but he didn't need much. Hickey pitched seven strong innings to carry the Pirates to a 2-1 win over Grapevine in seven innings on Thursday.

 

The Pirates would not relinquish the lead as Grapevine was unable to weather a two-run first inning deficit.

 

Grapevine scored one run in the fourth on an RBI single by #26. Unfortunately, Grapevine wasn't able to take the lead back.

 

#8 was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out eight, and allowed two runs.

 

The lead stayed with the Pirates after the first, when they scored two runs on a two-run double by Chance Turney.
