The Healthy Kids summer lunch
program will begin on Monday, June 5, 2017. Free lunches will be available to all
area children 18 years old and younger.
Healthy Kids is a
collaboration between community volunteers and the Granbury ISD child nutrition
department. Local volunteers from
churches and other organizations will pick up the meals at Granbury High School
and deliver them to the feeding sites.
Many volunteers also sponsor fun activities, including reading programs
Over the course of the
summer, children will enjoy a variety of hot baked items along with fruits and
vegetables. Funded through a Texas
Department of Agriculture program, the meals are prepared by the school
district and meet all federal and state nutrition guidelines.
Participating locations are
in neighborhoods Arrowhead Shores, Montego Bay, Oak Trail Shores, Rancho
Brazos, Sandy Beach, and Sky Harbor.
Meals will also be served at the Hood County Library.
Any student may also eat
breakfast and lunch at either GHS or Mambrino School.
Lunches will be served daily
all summer long except for Tuesday, July 4.
The program will end on Friday, July 28.
