Granbury High School held commencement exercises for the Class of 2017 on June 1, 2017, at the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
Principal Jeremy Ross presented the graduates to the Board of Trustees. Diplomas were presented by school board members: president Nancy Alana, vice president Mark Jackson, secretary Dr. Barbara Herrington, Rhonda Rezsofi, Micky Shearon, Chris Tackett, and Barbara Townsend. Each senior was congratulated by Ross and superintendent Dr. James Largent.
As the top two students in the graduating class, valedictorian Emma McKelvain and salutatorian Blake Steinmann each delivered an address. Senior class president Payton Holmgreen also spoke on behalf of the seniors.
The remaining students in the top ten of the class were recognized by Ross:  Glenn Rodgers, Brynn Deger, Bailey Vernon, Cadence Chiappe, Kaylee Brawner, Tiffany Henney, Kasey Ludwig, and Gavin Clarkson.
Other class officers and student council officers participated in the program and were part of the stage party. The others were:  Avery Glenney, student council president; Andrea Smith, student council vice president; Zachary Martin, student council senior spirit coordinator; Tabitha Perez, senior class vice president; Caitlin D’Souza, senior class secretary.  Also participating was Maria Espinosa from the Spanish National Honor Society.
Brynn Deger sang the National Anthem, and all senior choir members performed “A Parting Blessing” by Jerome Williams.  The GHS Pirate Band provided music for the processional and recessional as well as the School Song and Fight Song. The school’s Marine Corps JROTC color guard presented the United States and Texas flags.
