Granbury ISD will host the third annual #Teach4Gr8ness Rally on June 1-2, 2020, at Granbury High School. The professional development conference provides technology training for GISD educators.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will provide both in-person and virtual training and follow guidelines issued by Texas Governor Greg Abbott as well as state and local health officials. “We are excited to offer the conference face-to-face and online,” commented GISD technology director Amy Wood. “Safety measures will be implemented that exceed those recommended.”
Health and safety protocols include:
Capacity and Social Distancing
The conference will use 12% capacity of the building, far less than the 25% and 50% outlined. Keynote addresses will be held in the auditorium which seats 1,400. Seats will be marked with at least 6 feet between participants and 8 feet between the presenter and the first row of participants. Participants will be dismissed in sections in order to maintain social distancing guidelines. Other sessions will be held throughout the building in order to avoid congestion in hallways. All rooms will have limited seating, and all participants will be at least 6 feet apart. A monitor will be in place to ensure appropriate spacing. For the safety of our presenters and participants, there will be no autograph sessions and group selfies will be discouraged. Lunches will be boxed and picked up in multiple locations to avoid congestion and allow appropriate social distancing. Weather permitting, badge distribution will be in a large outdoor area.
Health and Hygiene
In order to ensure the safety of our presenters and participants, all participants will be provided a face mask, their own device, headphones, and gloves will be available in all classrooms. Although faces masks are not required in Hood County, we are happy to provide and require masks for sessions as speaker is unable to wear one while on stage. We currently have more than 3,000 gloves available onsite for participants. All restrooms will be available for handwashing, and hand sanitizer will be placed in every session as well as throughout the hallway. Sessions will be held in alternate rooms so that custodial staff can disinfect each room following each session. Large spaces, such as the auditorium and the cafeteria, will be vacated and sanitized before participants can enter for the next event.
Participants will self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before coming onto the GHS campus. Temperature checks will be available onsite.
