Coach Jason Pullano is departing the Granbury High School swim program at the end of the 2021-22 school year.
The GHS head coach has accepted an offer to lead the swimming and diving program for Highland Park High School.
Under Pullano’s leadership, the GHS swim team has continued a championship streak after capturing a ninth-straight district title. A number of squad members regularly qualify for regional and state competitions, and swimmers also attain many academic accomplishments.
“I knew he was something special when I hired him right out of college,” commented Granbury ISD athletic director Dwight Butler. “He improved the swim program immensely and took it to heights that I never anticipated. He will be greatly missed, but he has an incredible opportunity for him and his family.”
Pullano came to Granbury in 2014 as a new graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education and biology. From Trinity High School, he was the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD swimmer of the year in 2010 and received the district’s Hero Award in 2009. At OBU, he was a swim team captain and also an all-conference swimmer and diver.
“I have spent the entirety of my career in Granbury. I am grateful to have students that I love so much that it hurt to say goodbye,” Pullano said. “I have bled purple for eight years, and I will always be a Pirate.”
In addition to his coaching duties, Pullano most recently served as a district instructional technology specialist. He previously taught science at GHS and Crossland Ninth Grade Center.
