Ron Holmgreen is departing Granbury ISD as assistant superintendent for administrative services after being named the lone finalist to be the new superintendent of Brock ISD on June 7, 2021. 

“Our district is grateful for Mr. Holmgreen’s dedication and service to our students and community,” commented GISD superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn.  “He will be missed.” 

Holmgreen has served in his current role since June 2015 and came to Granbury in 2013 to lead Crossland Ninth Grade Center. 

Having begun his educational career in 1996, Holmgreen started as a teen leadership teacher and junior varsity baseball and freshman football coach at Duncanville Ninth Grade Center.  He later taught government and coached baseball, basketball, and football at Leander High School for five years, moving to Vista Ridge in 2003 as the head baseball coach and social studies teacher.  He later served as the Vista Ridge lead assistant principal for five years before coming to Granbury. 

Holmgreen received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1992 and later earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University in 2009. 

Active in the community as a volunteer with several organizations, Holmgreen has served on the board of directors for both the United Way of Hood County and Mission Granbury. 

“The opportunities which Granbury ISD has provided for my family and for our other 7,500 students are unparalleled, and I am excited to see the continued progress and growth which lies ahead,” Holmgreen stated.
