Granbury ISD school board trustees approved the appointment of Chelsey Gibson as the new principal for Oak Woods School during its regular meeting on June 21, 2021. 

““Ms. Gibson has served Oak Woods for 14 years. Her leadership is well respected by the students, staff, and community,” commented GISD superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn. 

Gibson has worked at Oak Woods since 2006, serving most recently as assistant principal since 2013.  She previously served concurrently as instructional specialist from 2013-2016 after teaching fifth grade science for several years. 

The new principal holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University and a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary science education from Texas Tech University. 

Gibson succeeds Donnie Cody, who was recently retired after leading the campus since 2007.
