Members of the Granbury Marine Corps JROTC competed at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Regional Championship on April 9-11, 2015, in Anniston, Alabama.

Granbury High School was represented by Cody Bogle, Hunter Dowell, Freeman Hawker, Chris Hitshew, Kayla Hitshew, Tyler Morrissette, and Brittney Pinckard in the 3×20 air rifle event, which featured competitors firing twenty record shots from three positions – prone, standing, and kneeling – over the two-day period.

Granbury’s top team shot 4420 out of a possible 4800 points placing them sixth among all teams. Dowell, a senior, led the team with a high score of 1146 out of 1200 possible points placing 19th.

Based on their performance and rankings at this regional match the team of Bogle, Dowell, Hawker, and Hitshew qualified for both the CMP National Championship & National 3PAR Junior Olympic Championships to be held June 21-23 back in Alabama.

“I’m amazed at the cadet’s performance this year,” said Lt. Col. Scott Casey Casey, the Senior Marine Instructor. “Receiving a bid to attend two national championships back to back with such a young program is unreal and we are very proud of their hard work.”
