GHS CADET CHOSEN FOR FLIGHT PROGRAM

May 5, 2015

Morgan Arnold Morgan Arnold, a junior cadet in the Granbury Marine Corps JROTC program, has been selected to participate in the Cadet Flight Indoctrination Program (CFIP) sponsored by the Daedalian Foundation, Flight 23 of Dallas-Fort Worth.

This summer, Arnold will undergo Federal Aviation Administration-certified flight training necessary to achieve a successful solo flight in an appropriate general aviation aircraft. He will receive financial incentive award for his continued training for his private pilot license totaling over $3,200.

The Order of Daedalians honors all World War I aviators who were commissioned as officers and rated as military pilots no later than the Armistice on November 11, 1918. It perpetuates their names as the first to fly our country's airplanes in time of war. The order's membership of commissioned, warrant, and flight officer military pilots and WASPs, with its worldwide network and its comprehensive awards program, supports the military services and other aerospace activities.

The awards and scholarship programs of the order and foundation encourage patriotism, integrity, and good character in our nation's youth; military careers as commissioned pilots; safety of flight, and excellence in the performance of military duties.

It will be a busy summer for Arnold, who will be attending the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar in June. He attended the STEM summer program at the academy in 2013 following his freshman year.
