RECORDS SET AT JROTC RIFLE TEAM’S SEASON OPENER

The Granbury Marine Corps JROTC rifle team opened
the 2015-16 season with a bang at a Lubbock High School competition on
September 26, 2015.
Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade
Center cadets earned a first and second place finish in the precision team
category and a fifth place finish in the team sporter event.
Cody Bogle led the way in the precision competition
with a personal record score of 580, which was good for first place out of 30 shooters. Freeman Hawker (578, fifth) and Brittney
Pinckard (568, tenth) also landed in the top ten. Also receiving individual awards were: Katherine
Lambert, who earned first place in the prone position; Cody Bogle, who won
first in the kneeling position; and Freeman Hawker, who won third place in the
kneeling position.
For the sporter portion of the competition, Grant
Kinser was GHS's top finisher with 521, which placed him fourth out of 50
shooters. Kinser also placed third in
prone and kneeling events.
“This was a great start to the season,” commented
Lt. Col. Scott Casey, the Senior Marine Instructor. “If this is any indication as to what the
rest of the season will look like, we are going to have a banner year. The kids have put in some long hours
preparing for the season opener and it paid off. I have never seen them more focused.”
Granbury cadets participating were:
- Precision Team 1: Cody Bogle, Freeman Hawker, Chris Hitshew, Tyler Morrissette
- Precision Team 2: Trinity Hathaway, Kayla Hitshew, Katharine Lambert, Brittney Pinckard
- Sporter Team: Grant Kinser, Ethan Patterson, Elizabeth Plecity, Jakob Rankin
Setting personal records were: Cody Bogle, 580 (precision); Trinity
Hathaway, 559 (precision); Freeman Hawker, 578 (precision); Grant Kinser, 521
(sporter); Ethan Patterson, 480, (sporter); Brittney Pinckard, 568 (precision);
Elizabeth Plecity, 482 (sporter); Jakob Rankin, 417 (sporter).
GHS returns to action on October 18 at the TCU Invitational.
