Granbury High School classrooms in the new Crossland Academic Wing have new United States flags thanks to a donation from American Legion Post 491.

Post commander Julie Rhoden and past commander Jack Sides presented the flags on March 1, 2016, to social studies teacher Cindy Leatherman and seniors in a dual credit U.S. government class.

Following the presentation, Rhoden and Sides joined the students in reciting the pledge of allegiance to the American flag in the classroom. All schools in Granbury ISD and across the state recite the pledges to both the U.S. and Texas flags each morning.

Lt. Col. Scott Casey, the Senior Marine Instructor for the Granbury Marine Corps JROTC, facilitated the American Legion donation.

The Crossland addition to the high school was completed in August 2015 and has a variety of classes while construction continues at the campus. Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, the wing will have ninth grade academic classrooms in the fully complete high school for grades 9-12.
