February 15, 2019 

Granbury High School senior Elizabeth Plecity, a cadet in the Granbury Marine Corps JROTC, signed a letter of intent to join the rifle team at Morehead State University during a ceremony on February 14, 2019, at GHS. 

The eagles competes in NCAA Division I as part of the Ohio Valley Conference.  The college is located in Morehead, Kentucky. 

“We are very happy to have another rifle team member earn a spot on a college team,” commented Lt. Col. Scott Casey, the Senior Marine Instructor and rifle team coach. 

A four-year member of the GHS rifle team, Plecity has excelled in Civilian Marksmanship Program, Junior Olympic, and JROTC Service Championship competitions. 

Teammate Mackenzie Sheffield committed to North Carolina State University in December. 

The GHS senior was joined for the signing by her grandmother, Katie Plecity, as well as Lt. Col. Scott Casey, rifle team members, family members, and friends.
