Granbury Marine Corp JROTC’s physical training team won first place at the JROTC Field Meet on February 8, 2020, at W.T. White High School in Dallas.
The Granbury cadets won the top prize among ten JROTC programs competing in the competition.
Developed in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship with the intent and purpose of building unit cohesion and teamwork, the meet included a number of competitive events: Tire Flip for 75 yards, Tug of War, Bus Pull for 50 yards, Rope Bridge, Obstacle Course, One Mile Ruck March with 30-pound backpack, and the Master-Guns Iron Man/Woman Challenge that was designed to test the most fit male and female cadet from each school. Teams were comprised of five cadets that required at least one female cadet per team.
The Granbury team had the following finishes:
- Overall: first place
- Obstacle Course: first place
- Male Ironman: first place
- Ruck March: third place
- Tire Flip: first place
- Tug of War: second place
“This was a great event that tested the physical fitness of our cadets,” commented First Sergeant Johnny Rositas. “I’m extremely proud of them and their accomplishments. I know each cadet was challenged, and they are looking forward to the next event.”
