The Granbury Marine Corps JROTC Academic Team has advanced to the second round of the National JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl.
This marks the third year in a row that the Granbury High School team has advanced to the second round, beating out over fifty other schools nationwide to continue competing.
“I’m proud of the cadets and their performance, especially since this is such a young team this year,” commented First Sergeant Johnny Rositas.
Team members include Ashton Arlington, Sarah Folsom, Ashley Jimenez, Zac Layland, Aidan Lewis, Cadince McGrath, Rhyan Obina, Sunnee Schumann, Kaylynn Slaughter, Kameron Wells, Gene Williams, and Jordan Wilson.
The online contest tests students’ knowledge in ACT and SAT style academic questions, JROTC curriculum, and current events in multiple rounds with time limits for each question.
Second round competition begins in February, and if successful, the team will advance to the finals in Washington DC in May.
