JROTC RIFLE TEAM ADVANCE FROM CMP REGIONAL CONTEST

Granbury Marine Corps JROTC rifle teams excelled at the Civilian Marksmanship Program regional championships held March 31-April 2, 2022, in Anniston, Alabama.
Granbury High School teams placed first and second respectively among all precision teams and qualified to compete at the national contest in July at Camp Perry, Ohio. Senior Parker Haydin led the Granbury squad and shot a personal best making finals with a second place finish among the top eight shooters. Also making finals were Sarah Folsom and Carline Martin, who finished fourth and eighth overall.
Rifle team members are Ashton Arlington, Tye Crawford, Julia Czernik, Sarah Folsom, Parker Haydin, Caroline Martin, Cadince McGrath, Sunnee Schumann, Kaylynn Slaughter, Kameron Wells, and Kennedy Wells.
The GHS squad competed in the 3×20 air rifle event, featuring competitors firing 20 record shots from three positions (prone, standing, and kneeling) over the two-day contest.
“It’s always rewarding winning after you haveve put in the hard work,” commented Lt. Col. Scott Casey, the Senior Marine Insturctor and rifle team coach. “This team is very capable of performing at a high level and does. The top two teams at regionals is very impressive and nationals this summer will be a great opportunity to prove themselves again.“
Granbury Rifle’s next match will be the 2022 Rifle National Junior Olympics Championships on May 11-15 in Hillsdale, Michigan.
