Ten Granbury High School band members were selected for the All-Region Band during recent tryouts.
The tryouts for the Texas Music Educators Association’s new Region 30 featured hundreds of students from schools around Fort Worth mostly in Ellis, Johnson, Hood, Parker, Palo Pinto, Somervell, and Tarrant counties.
Leading the contingent was three students who are advancing to the area round for an opportunity to join one of the All-State ensembles – junior Lauren Boleng along with sophomores Ian Cone and Janessa Mendoza.  The Area B auditions will be January 7, 2017, at Coppell High School.
Qualifying for the high school region band were:  
  • Class 6A Symphonic Band:  Lauren Boleng, flute; Ian Cone, French horn
  • Class 6A Concert Band:  Melanie Boleng, clarinet; Leslie Price, alto clarinet
  • Class 5A Symphonic Band:  Janessa Mendoza, contra bass clarinet
  • Class 5A Concert Band:  Kyla Asante-Wiredu, percussion; Anna Christy, clarinet; Alyssa Garcia, trumpet; Bailey McCall, flute; Emily Tipton, flute
Others who advanced to the Phase 2 part of the auditions were:  Katlyn Backus, French horn; Emma McKelvain, alto saxophone; Savannah Oliver, alto saxophone; Cole Stephens, percussion; Phil Tillemen, percussion; Chance Worthington, euphonium.
The All-Region Band clinic and concert will be held January 13-14 at Saginaw Chisholm High School.
