Twenty-seven Granbury High School band members were selected for the All-Region Band during tryouts on November 29, 2018, at Aledo High School and December 15, 2018, at Keller Timber Creek High School.
The tryouts for the Texas Music Educators Association’s Region 30 featured hundreds of students from schools around Fort Worth mostly in Ellis, Johnson, Hood, Parker, Palo Pinto, Somervell, and Tarrant counties.
Leading the contingent are seven students who are advancing to the area round for an opportunity to join one of the All-State ensembles. They are: Megan Bednarz, oboe; Bailey Carlton, piccolo; Ian Cone, French horn; Alyssa Garcia, trumpet; Mikayla Hamilton, Bb clarinet; Luke Mankowski, tuba; Paige Quillen, French horn. Those tryouts will be January 12, 2019, at Coppell High School.
Cone was an All-State horn player in 2017, when he was a sophomore.
Those receiving first chair honors were Megan Bednarz, Bailey Carlton, Mikayla Hamilton, Emily Kelly, and Paige Quillen.
