GMS BAND MEMBERS PERFORM WITH INVITATIONAL HONOR BAND

GMS Students at Invitational Honor Band

Ten members of the Granbury Middle School Band performed with the first-ever 2018 Invitational Honor Band at Weatherford Hall Middle School on January 22, 2019. 

GMS was invited to participate as part of a trial group of schools for the first-ever honor band, according to band director Michele Kahne.  The three-part auditions were adjudicated by band directors and musicians from several other school districts. 

Leading the clinic and concert was William Owens, a retired band director and seasoned music educator active as a composer, clinician, and conductor throughout the United States and Canada. 

GMS students selected were: 

  • Alto Saxophone:  Saphyre Sneed, 4th chair
  • Baritone Saxophone:  Aedan Jackson, 1st chair
  • Flute:  Julia Vargas Maldonado, 2nd chair
  • Bassoon:  Cooper Sanderson, 1st chair
  • Oboe:  Reagan Kinser, 1st chair; MacKenzie Callaway, 2nd chair
  • Percussion:  Isaac Maldonado, 6th chair
  • Tuba:  Gabby Fulcher, 1st chair; Jonathan Villalobos, 3rd chair; Zeke Shaum, 4th chair
