GRANBURY FFA COMPETES AT STATE LEADERSHIP CONTEST
December 8, 2014

Members of the Granbury FFA chapter competed in Leadership
Development Event state competition on December 5, 2014, at Sam Houston State
University.
Granbury students placed in Ag Issues, Ag Advocacy, Senior FFA
Quiz events. With more than one thousand
FFA chapters across the state, this put Granbury in the Top 20.
“Advancing to the semifinals in the contests was a major
undertaking. Months of preparation and
practice were required to accomplish this feat,” commented sponsor Nate Newton,
a Granbury High School agricultural science teacher.
Students began the statewide tournament in thirteen different
events, which focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their
abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their
knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization.
The Texas FFA is one of the nation’s largest state FFA
Associations with more than 106,000 members and more than 1,045 FFA chapters.
FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to
real world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
