Granbury High School graduate Savanna Shelnutt recently received a four-year $18,000 college scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The award was presented during the Texas FAA state convention held July 15, 2015, in Corpus Christi.

A former Granbury FFA member, Shelnutt was a member of the GHS Class of 2015. She plans to attend Texas A&M University to major in animal science.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awarded seventy scholarships totaling $1.26 million to FFA members during the state organization’s event. Shelnutt’s classmate, Sam Spradlin, also received the same scholarship award during the Texas 4-H Roundup in June.

The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with a membership of more than 109,000 members and 1,032 local FFA chapters. FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real world experiences through local, state, and national competitions.
