STARS Fall Graduation

STARS Accelerated High School held spring graduation exercises on December 17, 2019, at Acton Baptist Church.  Twenty-three students received high school diplomas during the ceremony. 

Counselor Misty Walters presented the diplomas to the graduates.  Granbury ISD superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn congratulated each student, whose tassel was transferred by school board vice president Barbara Townsend.  Following the awarding of diplomas, the students presented flowers to family members, friends, and others that helped them finish their high school education. 

The graduates receiving their high school diplomas were:  Hunter Wayne Beeson, Dylan Wade Carlisle, Savannah Noelle Cress, Ashlyn Paige Denholm, Omar Jose Espinosa, Diva Cheyenne Gore, Anna Elizabeth Gray, Madison Alyse Griffin, Jennifer Lee Havens, Taylor Nicole Hickman, Emily Ann Hinkle, Mario Gustavo Jaramillo, Landon Wayne Maxwell, Benjamin John Montgomery, Kaleb Isaiah Morris, Brianna Alexis Munoz, Kaden Gregory Pridemore, Danielle Marie Schott, Shane Dustin Stacks, Eric Nathan Valdez, Alexis Dannielle Walton, Kaylie Pauline Webb, Dalton Wayne Williams. 

The special speaker for the evening was Amanda Jo Massey Shaw, a 2009 STARS graduate who went on to college. 

A reception following the ceremony was hosted by the church’s Agape Sunday School class. 

An alternative academic high school that is part of GISD, STARS provides an optional setting with flexibility and personalized self-paced courses for high school students whose needs are not met in the traditional school.  The acronym stands for Self-Motivated Teens Achieving Responsibility and Success.  Over one thousand students have graduated from STARS since its founding in 1994.
