Granbury High School and Acton Middle School student councils earned sweepstakes honors from the Texas Association of Student Councils for the 2019-20 school year.
Sweepstakes councils must first earn recognition as an Outstanding Student Council based on documentation of student council organization, specific project areas, participation in TASC programs, and an evaluation by a campus administrator. In addition, Sweepstakes Councils must earn recognition in the areas of Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, and Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health. Finally, Sweepstakes councils must submit their accomplishments in School and Community Service.
“It takes passion, dedication, purpose, planning, and hard work to achieve this,” commented TASC director Terry Hamm. “Only exceptional councils earn this honor, and you set the bar to which other councils should aspire.”
Only 263 student councils in Texas earned Sweepstakes honors, and only 337 received Outstanding Student Council recognition.
TASC is sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
