Marine Corps JROTC students from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center took center stage at the annual fundraiser of the United Way of Hood County held September 13, 2012, at the Granbury Resort Conference Center.

A color guard (pictured above) presented the United States and Texas flags at the beginning of the ceremony, which was decorated as a political convention with a comedic group providing the after-dinner entertainment. Cadets also helped serve the hundreds of attendees and clear tables as a community service project.

Through an annual campaign and additional fundraising, the United Way provides funding for numerous local charitable organizations named as partner agencies. The special event covers the group’s administrative costs.

As a pacesetter for the United Way, Granbury ISD employees recently donated over $17,000 this year towards the annual campaign to benefit the local charities that aid area schoolchildren and families.

Additional information of the JROTC is available on the GHS website at www.granburyisd.org/jrotc.
