“BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” COMING TO GHS ON FEBRUARY 8-10
Fine arts students from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center will present a "tale as old as time" when the musical Beauty and the Beast comes to town on February 8-10, 2013. The performances will begin at 7:30 P.M. on February 8-9 and at 2:00 P.M. on February 10 in the GHS Bagby-McMahan Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are on sale now through choir students and cast members or by contacting the choir office at (817) 408-4622. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature film, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman along with new songs by Menken and Tim Rice, according to Music Theatre International.
The story will transport audiences to the heart of provincial life in a lovely French town. When Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive. Maruice's daughter, Belle, must then give up her freedom to save his life. Belle's taming of the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation back into a handsome prince enthralled Broadway audiences for over 13 years.
Josh Carpenter and Tori Townsend lead the cast in the title roles. Other cast members are Aaron Barnes, Mandy Brenning, Preston Chapman, Blair Cowden, Bailey Davis, Peter Dowd, Ally Gonzalez, Ashton Goodson, Hailey Hart, Missy Hendrix, Makenzie Kane, Christian Loper, Kiersten Mathis, Dakota Medlin, Nate Milson, Cody Mullican, Bryten Otting, Dakota Paulo, Rachael Perriello, Abby Ritchmond, Brennan Ross, Deanna Rupp, Cameron Tremmier, Grant Watts, Gabe Whites, Geoffrey Williams, Natalie Willingham, Harry Yeh, and Bailey Youngs.
