Marine Corps JROTC cadets from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center shined at the Texas Battalion Drill Meet held on April 20, 2013, at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. 

This meet is designed to encourage JROTC cadets to build teams to compete and develop sportsmanship, camaraderie, and esprit de corps. This meet is also intended to introduce college options and the benefits of Senior ROTC to cadets who plan on continued education after high school.

Granbury cadets competed in color guard, physical fitness, and orienteering contests against eighteen North Texas schools. The fitness test included a one-mile run, maximum amount of push-ups in one minutes, and maximum amount of sit-ups in one minute., 

GHS teams competing were:

  • Female physical fitness team (Cindy Adams, Rebecca Anderson, Karen McLellan, Kourtney Norwood): second overall
  • Female color guard team (Cindy Adams, Rebecca Anderson, Karen McLellan, Kourtney Norwood): second in regulation phase
  •  Male color guard team (Daniel Alaniz, David Hull, Valen Webb, Zach Welty): third overall, second in inspection phase
  •  Male physical fitness team (Daniel Alaniz, Adam Felan, David Hull, Valen Webb)
  • Orienteering team (Alex Brake and Hunter Dowell) 

Individually, Norwood was first and Adams third in the most female pushups.

JROTC instructors are Lt. Col. Scott Casey and First Sergeant Johnny Rositas.
