Caleb Bendewald, a member of the Granbury Pirate football team, was chosen to play in the North American All Star’s 2013 North Texas East/West Classic.

The Granbury High School graduate will be playing for the West squad at the game, which will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Pennington Field in Bedford. The third annual game will feature all-district players from Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex schools.

The West squad will be led by Saginaw Boswell coach John Abendschan, while the East team will be coached by Josh Ragsdale of Dallas Adamson.

Bendewald was named the team’s overall Most Valuable Player, receiving the Johnny Perkins Award after he helped lead the Pirates to the Class 4A playoffs for the third consecutive year. He also was on the first team for District 7-4A honors as an inside linebacker.

The 2013 GHS graduate also received district accolades for baseball, as he was named to the first team as designated hitter.
