Two Granbury ISD teachers were recently recognized for their leadership with students in science fair competitions.
Acton Middle School teacher Scott Carpenter was one of five educators honored with the Best Teacher Award from the 62nd Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Under Carpenter’s guidance, six AMS students won awards – out of a total of 55 bestowed at the competition.
At the regional fair, AMS ranked second, with the school among six campuses receiving the School Performance Award.
Dene’ Carter, a Granbury High School teacher, earned participation in an all-expense paid summer workshop. She was one of fifteen educators in the state chosen for successfully mentoring students at the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair.
Carter will travel to South Texas College in McAllen on August 1 for the one-day workshop sponsored by the Governor’s Science and Technology Champions Academy. The professional development workshop will provide participants with framework model strategies to create classrooms that allow for powerful learning and teaching. The teachers will interact by discussing strategies and will work collaboratively to create blueprints for implementing the models in their classrooms.
