GRANBURY STUDENTS MAKE REGION AND DISTRICT CHOIRS

By qualifying for the region choir, sixteen choir students from Granbury High School and one from Crossland Ninth Grade Center recently advanced another step toward making the Texas Music Educators Association all-state choirs at auditions held October 12, 2013, at Burleson High School. An additional seventeen students qualified for the district choir.

Of the group, sophomore Kiersten Mathis earned first-chair honors among Alto 2 singers.

The students qualifying for the region and district choirs are:

 

Soprano 1: region choir – Deanna Rupp, Mercy Whites; district choir – Kaylynn Fehrer, Kellan Jones

 

Alto 1:  region choir Brynn Deger, Makenzie Kane, Alondra Martinez, Kaitlyn Meinershagen, Sofia Taylor; district choir – April Cabrera, Katrice Johnson, Erin Pavelick

 

Alto 2:  region choir – Baylee Davis, Kiersten Mathis; district choir – Clarissa Jackson, Kelly Kollmann, Madison Seymore

 

Tenor 1: region choir – Kendon Parker; district choir – Colton Collins

 

Tenor 2: district choir – Christopher Lancaster

 

Bass 1:  region choir – Dakota Medlin, Edward Ramirez, Zach Zagrocki; district choir – Nikolai Press, Nicholas Sandelin

 

Bass 2: region choir – Cody Bridges, Cody Mullican, Taunton Puckett, Joel Reid; district choir – Nicholas Barrett, Jamie Garcia, Cesar Gutierrez, Mark Hartgraves, Jacob Wheeler

 

Two of the students, Brynn Deger and Christopher Lancaster, are freshmen. The remaining are GHS students. 

The district/region choir clinic and concert will be on Saturday, November 16 in the Weatherford High School auditorium. The pre-area auditions for those making the region choir will follow on Friday, November 23 at North Crowley High School. 

The students are under the direction of Joy Hope and Greg Doss.
