JROTC RIFLE TEAM SHINES AT JUNIOR OLYMPICS TRIALS
Members of the Granbury Marine Corps JROTC shined at the Junior Olympic Air Rifle Trials held January 11, 2014, on the campus of Texas Christian University. has been selected to compete in its first-ever national competition.
Granbury High School was represented by Rebecca Anderson, Hunter Dowell, Stephen Schofield, and Tyler Morrissette. Dowell (pictured above) posted an impressive 547 out of a possible 600 in air rifle, placing him third in the state. Anderson, Schofield, and Morrissette had strong showings, scoring personal best in the competition.
The field of over fifty shooters featured some of the best high school and college competitors from all over the state, according to Lt. Col. Scott Casey, the Senior Marine Instructor.
“This is a good warm up match for nationals next month,” said Casey. “We have a lot work to do, but our track record speaks for its self. The kids are on a winning streak and it is very exciting to watch”.
