LADY PIRATES STORM TO FIRST DISTRICT VICTORY

Lady Pirate Softball  

The Lady Pirate softball team stormed to its first District 7-4A win, defeating Fort Worth Southwest 22-3 on February 25, 2014.

The varsity players are seniors Ashley Edes, Rayla Helcl, and Maci Samuelson; juniors Alyssia Allen, Taelyn Beadle, Destini Lopez, and Whitley Tipton; sophomores Lacey Coleman, Brooke Massey, Lily Thornton, and Avery Villa; and freshmen Kristen Money and Livia Zamora.

The junior varsity squad is composed of Courtney Boughton, Macey Burch, Madison Everage, Laura Farmer, Kim Gamez, Addison Jackson, Lea Kimmell, Saylor Jordan, Haley Malloy, Emily Ritchmond, Lyndsey Sager, Jessi Sanders, Erika Stottle, and Olivia Winchester.

District 7-4A continues on March 4 with the Lady Pirates facing Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt. In addition to Southwest and Wyatt, other district foes are Aledo, Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Fort Worth South Hills, Fort Worth Trimble Tech, and Fort Worth Western Hills. The schools compete in a round-robin format.

Mallory Smith, in her first year as head coach, is assisted by Shanna Shelton. Sports medicine duties are handled by athletic trainer Connie Rhodes and student trainer Katie Siegler. Statistician is Jaci Largent.
