Pirate Basketball  

Granbury Pirate basketball boys were honored at an awards banquet on April 9, 2014.

Head coach David Breazeale handed out the following team awards:

  • Most Valuable Player: Clay Brawner
  • Offensive Most Valuable Player: Jacob Taylor
  • Defensive Most Valuable Player: Will Brawner
  • Fighting Heart Award: Hunter West
  • Most Improved Player: Mitchell May

Players receiving District 7-4A all-district honors were: co-defensive player of the year – Clay Brawner; first team – Jacob Taylor; second team – Mitchell May.

Season statistical leaders were also recognized: assists – Clay Brawner; blocked shots – Mitchell May; charges taken – Clay Brawner; steals – Kevin Hennard; field goal percentage – Jacob Taylor; free throw percentage – Clay Brawner; rebounds – J.D. Hohnstreiter and Mitchell May; three-point percentage – Jacob Taylor.

Jacob Taylor was honored for receiving Academic All-State recognition from both the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Other members of the varsity squad were Brendan King and Ryan Suitt.

Sub-varsity squads were also recognized for their participation in the basketball program:

  • Junior Varsity: Jarod Adcock, Malik Allen, Keelen Ellison, Ethan Gonzalez, Dillon Graham, Hayden Kostman, Daniel Martinez, Cade Phillips, Cade Timmons, Hunter Tracy, Chevie Van Patten, Aaron Villa, Aza Villareal, Cody Welch
  • Freshman Purple: Case Campbell, Connor Dixon, Michael Golba, Dalton Kennington, Jordan King, Eric Kirchner, Michael Mullholland, David Paris, Corbin Weeks
  • Freshman Gold: Brendin Anchondo, Tyler Blevins, Branden Condit, Carter Cross, Karsten Harrison, Daniel Hendrix, Cameron Randolph, Daniel Shelton, Brandon Villanueva
Breazeale was assisted by Steve Weeks, Greg Belleau, Blaze Pendleton, Bradan Ritchey, and athletic trainer Andy Rankin.
