Granbury High School senior Cassandra Trevino recently participated in the regional competition of the 13th Annual Bus Safety Speech Contest. She received her award during a presentation on April 16, 2014, in Weatherford.

Trevino won first place in her grade level and will compete at the state contest on April 21 in Waco.

The contest is sponsored by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation. Contestants had to compose and present an original speech based on the theme, "What Makes My School Bus 7 Times Safer than Other Passenger Vehicles?" The students not only had to recite their speeches from memory but also were required to submit typewritten copies of the speech along with a complete and accurate bibliography.
