June 17, 2009

Stacie BrownStacie Brown has been named the new principal for Brawner Intermediate School by Granbury ISD superintendent Ron Mayfield.

“Stacie demonstrates the passion for success that I want to see in a principal,” commented Mayfield.  “She also will be aggressive in order to get the campus where we want it to be academically.”

Brown will replace Carolyn Horton, who is retiring this summer after leading the school since 2001.

With fifteen years in education, Brown began her career in 1994 as a teacher at Springdale Elementary School in Fort Worth.  She joined Granbury ISD in 1999 as an instructional specialist at Acton Elementary School and later served as the school’s assistant principal for two years. Since 2002, Brown has worked in the curriculum department – first as an all-level math and science coordinator and then as an elementary coordinator serving all subject areas.

Brown earned a Master of Education in educational administration from Tarleton State University, and she received her bachelor’s degree from Radford University in Virginia.  She was named Teacher of the Year for Springdale Elementary in 1998.  Brown also received the Sue German Award for Excellence in 2005 and 2009 as recognition of her achievements as a trainer for the Abydos International writing program.
