GRADUATION HELD FOR GHS CLASS OF 2009

Granbury High School held commencement exercises for the Class of 2009 on June 2, 2009, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

 

Principal Marsha Grissom presented the graduates to Dr. Barbara Herrington, who serves as president of the Board of Trustees.  Diplomas were presented by school board members of the Board of Trustees.  Each senior was congratulated by Grissom and Superintendent William Harris.

 

As the top two students in the graduating class, valedictorian Karl Wilcox and salutatorian Marshall Kay each delivered an address.  Senior class president Alexis Chastain also spoke on behalf of the seniors.

 

Other students in the top ten of the class were recognized.  They are (in order):  Lindsey Mueller, Zachary Mathis, Stanton Miller, Lindsey Lambarth, Alexis Chastain, Paloma Nunez, Alexa Ward, and Margaret Messina.

 

Class officers and Student Council officers participated in the program and were part of the stage party.  The class officers were:  Alisha Smith, vice president; Tahnee Sauer, secretary; and Hannah Shearon, treasurer.  Student Council officers participating were:  Maggie Messina, president; Autumn Moorhead, vice president; Brayden Chasteen, secretary; Lindsey Lambarth, treasurer; Mariah Hokanson, parliamentarian; Tyler Ecton, historian; and Jessica Lopez, reporter. 

 

All-State choir members Tanner Campbell, Alexis Chastain, and Jennifer Miears sang the National Anthem, and senior choir members sang “A Red, Red Rose” as the farewell song.  The GHS Band provided music for the processional and recessional as well as the School Song.

 

A special tribute was paid to Superintendent William Harris, who is retiring at the end of the June.  Harris came to Granbury when the seniors were in kindergarten.
