CHOIR STUDENTS MEDAL AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST

Choir students from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center competed at the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest, which was held on May 30, 2009, at the University of Texas at Austin.

 

Of 32 soloists taking part in the competition, 24 were awarded superior ratings.

 

Several soloists earned Division I ratings for their performances.  They were:  Katherine Ball, Brandt Colborg, Chris Martinez, Colton McCoy, Jennifer Miears, Ruth Morris, Alysia Murphy, Ariel Price, Micah Schexnider, Amy Snider, Amanda Taylor, and Sarah Thompson.  Crossland student Blake Bridges was also in this group, making him only the fourth Granbury freshman to earn the top rating in the last twenty years.

 

A madrigal also received a Division I rating.  The ensemble was composed of Dani Brau, Chad Eaton, Joshlyn Davis, Jesse Hernandez, Lorenzo Lopez, Reesa Manroe, Maryssa Mathis, Sam Ray, Amy Snider, and Shelbi Swaim.

 

Soloists receiving a Division II rating were Mallory Baird, Meredith Ball, Dani Brau, Martin Caraway, Shannon Collins, Chad Eaton, Jessica Lopez, Kayla Price, Sam Ray, Matthew Robinson, and Carlye Thornton.

 

The students advanced to the state competition after Students earning a Division I rating on a Class I solo or madrigal at the regional contest held in February at Cleburne High School.
