GHS STUDENT EARNS SCHOLARSHIP TO UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

Granbury High School student Paloma Nunez will be attending the University of Texas at Austin in the Fall with an academic scholarship covering eighty percent of her educational expenses. She will also have the opportunity to join the ladies’ golf team at the university.
With a grade point average of 4.45, Nunez ranks eighth in the Class of 2009. As a member of the Lady Pirate Golf team, she recently competed in the 2009 State Golf Championship. The girls advanced to the state competition after winning both district and regional tournaments.
Awards and other recognition that she received include Academic All-State Ladies Golf, Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor, Distinguished Achievement Scholar, Granbury Scholar Award, National French Honor Society, National Honor Society, National Hispanic Recognized Scholar, President's Educational Excellence Award, State Farm Texas Scholar Athlete, and UIL Scholar. She was also named the 2007 North Texas PGA Player of the Year.
In addition to her UT scholarship, Nunez also received the State Top 2% Scholarship, North Texas PGA Scholarship, Granbury Optimist Club Scholarship, and the J.P. Ward Memorial Scholarship.
