The Granbury High School accounting team won the silver medal among Class 4A schools at the UIL State Academic Meet.  The contest was held May 25-26, 2009, at the University of Texas at Austin.

The team members are Kevin Massey, Whitney McLean, Garrett Wadley, and Joe Wallace.  Only two points separated Granbury from the first place winners from Magnolia High School.

In the individual competition, Kevin Massey placed second and Joe Wallace won fifth.  “No accounting student has placed above sixth place in school history,” said accounting coach Connie Stone.

Also taking part in the state competition was ready writing contestant Amanda Russell.
