Kelsey Chapman Fight the Bite

Kelsey Chapman, a fifth grader at Brawner Intermediate School, was among 28 students in 17 states who won awards in the “Fight the Bite” poster contest.

Chapman was the top fifth grader for Texas.  She will receive a certificate and a $50 U.S. Savings bond.

Started in 2007, the contest invites fifth and sixth graders to create posters that encourage children and adults to protect against mosquito and tick bites and the diseases they can cause.  The contest is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the DEET Education Program.
