Granbury High School student Blake Bridges was named an Outstanding Soloist following his vocal performance at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest held May 29 and 31, 2010, in Austin.
The outstanding performers are a select group of students.At the UIL state competition, they must earn a Division I superior rating and be recognized as outstanding by their judge.
Of the 85,000 students who entered regional solo and ensemble competitions in February, 22,000 qualified for the state contest.Only 231 students were named outstanding performers.
Earlier this year, Bridges was chosen as first chair in the All-State Mixed Choir, which performed with other state music ensembles during the Texas Music Educators Association convention on February 13 in San Antonio.Bridges and senior Amy Snider were chosen through a competitive process involving several levels of auditions held throughout the state.
A tenor in the GHS Choir, Bridges recently finished his sophomore year.
