The Granbury school community is mourning the loss of Keri and Lowell Richey, Rodney and Delaine Duree, and Lake Duree.

Law enforcement and news agencies have confirmed that both couples and Lake were killed in a plane crash near Ruidoso, New Mexico on Thursday.  The Richeys’ two sons, Alexander and Kristopher, were injured and transported to an El Paso hospital.

Keri joined Granbury ISD in November 2006 as a long-term substitute, teaching fifth grade at Oak Woods Intermediate School.  From 2007-09, she taught first grade at Acton Elementary School.  Keri returned to Oak Woods as a first grade teacher for the 2009-10 school year.

Lowell worked in Granbury from 2006-08 as a teacher and coach at Granbury Middle School.  He was most recently working at Godley Middle School.

Both Lake and Kristopher recently completed the sixth grade at Acton Middle School, while Alexander finished his sophomore year at Granbury High School.

According to the Hood County News, a trust account has been created at First Financial Bank for Alexander and Kristopher.  University Medical Center in El Paso, where the boys were airlifted, has set up Caring Bridge websites to post updates on the boys' conditions. Go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/kristopherrichey and www.caringbridge.org/visit/alexrichey.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Alexander, Kristopher, and both families.
