NEW YORK-BOUND GHS CHOIR TO PREVIEW CONCERT ON JUNE 2

June 1, 2010

The Granbury High School choir will preview an upcoming New York City concert on Wednesday, June 2, 2010.  The performance will begin at 6:30 P.M. at Acton Baptist Church.

Choir members will be performing a prelude concert that will be part of their New York trip, when the group will be traveling June 4-9 to perform at the famed Carnegie Hall in midtown Manhattan.

Following the prelude concert on June 7 in New York, the students will sing Francis Poulenc’s Gloria as a chorus alongside the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma.  Choir members previously performed this portion locally at their May 14 spring concert.

Francesco La Vecchia will conduct the latter piece with the orchestra, which is making its American debut.  The prelude concert will be led by GHS choir director Joy Hope.

The ensemble includes about two dozen freshmen from Crossland Ninth Grade Center.
