Granbury High School held commencement exercises for the Class of 2010 on May 28, 2010, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.


Principal Donna Jefferies presented the graduates to the Board of Trustees.  Diplomas were presented by school board members:  Dr. Barbara Herrington, president; Micky Shearon, vice president; Charlie Cloud, secretary; Nancy Alana; Mark Jackson; B.J. Wallace; and Don Walton.  Each senior was congratulated by Jefferies and superintendent Ron Mayfield.


As the top two students in the graduating class, valedictorian Morgan Williams and salutatorian Amanda Russell each delivered an address.  Class president Erin Bersi also spoke on behalf of the seniors.


Other class officers and student council officers participated in the program and were part of the stage party.  The other class officers were:  Omar Assali, vice president; Donovan Bailey, secretary; and Stevie Ray, treasurer.  Student Council officers participating were:  Kelsi Cathey, president; Alexandra Middlebrook, vice president; Kendall Rice, secretary; Haley Harris, treasurer; Hillary Cowden, reporter; Ryann Warner, historian; Kristina Cates, parliamentarian; and Alycea Cronin, spirit coordinator.  Also participating was Hispanic Club president Joshlyn Davis.


All-State choir member Amy Snider sang the National Anthem.  The GHS Band provided music for the processional and recessional as well as the School Song.  The school’s JROTC color guard presented the colors.


A special tribute was paid to Alyssa Dix, a classmate who was killed in an automobile accident during the students’ sophomore year in March 2008.  Senior choir members sang “In Remembrance” in her honor.
